Breaking - ChatGPT Plus is officially launched
With a starting price at $20 a month, ChatGPT is going premium & will offer more to its demanding users.
ChatGPT is now monetized, and it won’t break the bank with a new monthly subscription fee of $20, compared to the previously announced $42 fee.
The good news is that the free version will still be available. This benefits both users, who can continue to access the service, and OpenAI, which can continue to improve its learning model for millions of users.
Ok, so what do I get as a paid customer
All of us that have experienced the #ChatGPT down will be glad to know general access will be granted, “even during peak times”
Faster response times
Priority access to new features and improvements
Is the new ChatGPT upgrade a game-changer for users like you or me?
For those who use ChatGPT in their free time and have limited question needs, the free plan will still be a good option
However, if you use it professionally and require higher quality service and faster response times, the $20 monthly fee could be a worthwhile investment, for example students or businesses who need reliable access to AI generated-text
What’s next (roadmap)?
ChatGPT is only available to US customers at the moment (you can join the waitlist here). More countries and regions will open “soon”
Several different plans could pop up in the future: OpenAI also explores "lower-cost plans, biz plans & data packs in addition to an API”
We’ll keep you posted on the next upgrades. The former ones are documented on OpenAI’s page. There aren’t many at the moment but it shows the company cares about the main users’ requests as a priority
What about the market?
Microsoft has invested over $2 billion in OpenAI since its initial round in 2019, and the company incurs monthly running costs of around $3 million
With these significant investments, expectations are high for OpenAI. The organization aims to generate $200 million in revenue next year and reach $1 billion by 2024
What we know about the competition
Google is expected to launch its language model with search components very soon
The company has announced a "Live from Paris" search and AI event, scheduled for 8:30 AM on February 8. The live will focus on “Search, Maps and beyond”
Sundar Pichai stated that the company has big AI plans in the next few months, after preparing since early last year. Although he did not reveal specific details, he mentioned that the company will allow people to "interact directly" with its "newest and most powerful language models." The first such model is Google's AI chatbot, LaMDA, which has been mostly confined to engineers and beta testers
That’s all for today, ChatGPT folks!
